Phone Annoyances

With the move to Wyoming, Sarah and I got our first land line telephone in 3 years. We had to get it so we could have DSL service at the house. I had forgotten how much I dislike telemarketers. I don't use the land phone, and I haven't been giving out that number. So, the only time it ever rings, it's a telemarketer. Wil Wheaton wrote in his blog today about opting out of all of these little invasions of your privacy. I registered with the do not call list, so we'll see how much it helps.

We did a little re-arranging of the workspace over the weekend. The front counter, which was featured previously, is now moved into the waiting room. This places it closer to the front door of the building. It was kind of hidden before, and people were having trouble finding it. I'll take a new picture of it in a couple days. I'm going to do some work making it look nicer first.

At my previous residence, I had a land line. I wasn't the victim of telemarketers, but of credit people hunting a man named Marty Jacobs and his wife Kelly. I still remember their names. And if I ever meet them, I will slap them in the face. I think i deserve to slap them because i was abused in their place for 4 years. That's right, I'd tell the credit people they had the wrong number for 4 years and they continued to call and asked if i "knew Marty". ummmmmmm... NO! *sigh*. I don't think I'll ever get another land line. Or maybe if I do, I'll just turn the ringer off.

I share your frustration. You might remember me complaining about collectors trying to reach Derek Peterson who had our phone number on his now bankrupt company web site. Most of the collectors would accept it and move on but some wouldn't give up without a little fight.
